This version of the online Certified Alarm Technician Level One course has been approved by the Florida Electrical Contractors Board as meeting the Florida Statute 489 for Alarm System Agents and Fire Alarm System Agents.(ECLB Provider #0000856 / Course Numbers: FASAeb 0801518 & BASAeb 0801517)

PRICE: $300 for members (enter member discount code on purchasing screen)/ $400 non-members.  Price includes 400 page manual and proctored exam that must be taken at a PSI testing center.

There are three steps to complete this course and attain a BASA/FASA System Agent ID Card:

  1. Complete all components of the online course.
  2. Take the BASA/FASA Level I proctored exam at a PSI testing facility and pass with a 75% or higher. For more details on arranging and scheduling a proctored exam please visit the Proctored Exam information page
  3. Submit the BASA/FASA ID Card request form.

Once all three of these steps have been completed you will be issued a BASA/FASA ID card.

Cancellation Policy:

If the student has completed less than ¼ of the course and a request is made to cancel, a refund is available less a 25% administrative fee. Students may choose to transfer their funds to another ESA/NTS provided course if less than ¼ the course has been completed. Transfers will not be issued until the class materials, including the course manual, is returned in like new condition to ESA/NTS. Fund transfers cannot be made to non-ESA/NTS courses due to the varied payment terms established by the Training Providers. Cancellation requests made beyond one-quarter through the course will not be refunded or transferred.

Detailed Course Outline:

The Certified Alarm Technician Level One course is the industry standard for learning all facets of the alarm industry. This course presents an overview of the theory, installation and maintenance of alarm systems, basic electricity, standards, perimeter detection, space detection, fire systems, control panels, communications, CCTV, job planning, and false alarm prevention.

By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of the industry and their role within it, understand the importance of codes and standards and how to locate them and apply them, be able to define basic installation procedures, and compare the underlying technology behind the various security system tools and equipment.

What to Expect in the Online Course:

The course is delivered using a presentation style that is built off the exact same content covered in our instructor led course.  The presentation includes text, graphics, videos and activities to help you absorb the information presented. Each module is concluded by a knowledge checkpoint quiz to make sure you have understood the core concepts presented.  The course ends with a comprehensive assessment test that you must past with a 70% or greater to complete the course.  Your time will be tracked in the course and you must spend 22 hours interacting with the course materials before permitted to schedule the proctored exam.
