This 14-hour course, followed by a two hour examination, provides broad training in proper installation and service requirements for commercial and household fire alarm systems based on NFPA and ICC codes. NFPA requires fire inspection and testing personnel to be knowledgeable and trained, and service personnel be qualified and experienced. Students will learn the information needed for professionals to become familiar with fire alarm system requirements necessary to gain certification and prove competence.

Certification(s) available: Two certifications available. Individuals holding a Certified Alarm Technician Level I for a minimum of 24 months, and who successfully complete the Advanced Intrusion Systems course and the Fire Alarm Installation Methods course are eligible for certification as a Certified Alarm Technician Level II – formerly known as an Advanced Alarm Technician. Individuals holding a Certified Alarm Technician Level I for a minimum of 12 months, and who successfully complete this course and the Life Safety Code course, are eligible for certification as a Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT).
