This 14-hour course, followed by a two-hour examination, provides broad training for attendees to learn proper installation and service requirements for commercial and household fire alarm systems based on NFPA and ICC codes. NFPA now requires that fire inspection and testing personnel be knowledgeable and trained, and that service personnel be qualified and experienced. This course provides the information needed for installers and service technicians to become familiar with fire alarm system requirements necessary to gain certification and prove competence.

Please be aware that if you need to use this course for licensing or towards one of ESA’s certifications you will need to take the FAIM proctored exam at with a pre-approved testing facility. What to Expect in the Online Course:
The course is delivered using a presentation style that is built off the exact same content covered in our instructor led course. The presentation includes text, graphics, videos and activities to help you absorb the information presented. Each module is concluded by a knowledge checkpoint quiz to make sure you have understood the core concepts presented. The course ends with a comprehensive assessment test that you must past with a 70% or greater to complete the course. Your time will be tracked in the course and you must spend 14 hours interacting with the course materials before you will granted a course completion.

If the student has completed less than ¼ of the course and a request is made to cancel, a refund is available less a 25% administrative fee. Students may choose to transfer their funds to another ESA/NTS provided course if less than ¼ the course has been completed. Transfers will not be issued until the class materials, including the course manual, is returned in like new condition to ESA/NTS. Fund transfers cannot be made to non-ESA/NTS courses due to the varied payment terms established by the Training Providers. Cancellation requests made beyond one-quarter through the course will not be refunded or transferred.

Certifications available: Two certifications available. Individuals holding a Certified Alarm/Security Technician - Level I certification for a minimum of 24 months, and who successfully complete the Advanced Intrusion Systems course and the Fire Alarm Installation Methods course are eligible for certification as a Certified Alarm Technician Level II – formerly known as an Advanced Alarm Technician. Individuals holding a Certified Alarm/Security Technician - Level I certification for a minimum of 24 months or those that can provide proof of 24 months of field experience; and who successfully complete this course and the Life Safety Code course, are eligible for certification as a Certified Fire Alarm Technician.
