Training Requirements for Alabama:

Regulatory agency: Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure

  • Monitoring Station:

For each monitor operator, documentation of attendance of at least a one day NTS approved course for central station persons, NTS Level 1 Certification, or AESBL approved program. No qualifying agent is required.

  • Burglar Alarm:

A licensed alarm system company must have a physical location in the state of Alabama or within 50 miles of the Alabama border. Qualifying Agents (QA's) must demonstrate completion of educational requirements equivalent to those required for valid current status with their NTS certifications of Level 1 and Level 2 or Advanced Intrusion Systems Course. Installers must demonstrate completion of educational requirements equivalent to those required for current status with NTS Level I certification in order to obtain a AESBL license.

  • CCTV:

All Qualifying Agents at companies that install or service CCTV systems must provide AESBL certificates verifying they have completed the NTS Video Systems Technology course or equivalent. Installers that install or service CCTV systems must provide AESBL certificates verifying they have completed NTS Video Systems Technology course or equivalent or NTS Level 1.

  • Access Control:

All Qualifying Agents at companies that install or service Electronic Access Control must provide AESBL certificates verifying they have completed the NTS Electronic Access Control course or equivalent. All Installers that install or service electronic access control systems must provide AESBL certificates verifying they have completed the NTS Electronic Access Control class or NTS Level 1.

**Salespersons must have approved sales training or NTS Level 1. **

 

Regulatory agency: State of Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office  

  • Certified Fire Alarm Technicians

The Certified Fire Alarm Act requires that technicians working for a Certified Fire Alarm Contractor must hold a acceptable nationally recognized fire alarm technician certification requiring continuing education that is deemed equivalent by the State Fire Marshal. The State Fire Marshal has deemed the Certified Fire Alarm Technician training by the National Training School to be acceptable to meet the NICET Level II requirements. All certificates must be current. New employees of a Fire Alarm Contractor have 12 months to attain the NTS CFAT certification.

Continuing Education

  1. Alarm personnel-QA's and Installers 1.6 CEU's = (16 hours)
  2. Salespersons 1.6 CEU's = (16 hours)
  3. Alarm personnel + Access Control / CCTV 2.4 CEU's - (24 hours)
