This four-hour online course provides students a non-technical complete overview of the interactive and connected home industry. The Introduction to the Digital Home is designed for anyone new to the residential technology industry or interested in the growing market opportunities. Students learn about the capabilities, benefits and technical infrastructure that deliver the integration of products and services available today and coming tomorrow. A thorough review of the different systems in the digital home is presented including: Structured Wiring, Communications, Entertainment, Home Networking, Lighting Control, Environment and Energy Management,Security (Protection, Health and Safety) and Integrated Home Control. This course is an easy-to-understand orientation to the state of the industry TODAY and the market, as well as the technology subsystems that continue to change the way we live, work and play.

What to Expect in the Online Course:

Informative text, detailed color diagrams, and engaging case studies make learning about residential technologies efficient – and enjoyable. An online Glossary provides ready access to definitions of key terms. The course is divided into fourteen content sections – each section ends with a quiz, and a comprehensive test at the end of the course allows students to demonstrate their newfound knowledge of residential technologies.  

NOTE:  Not all state regulatory agencies allow online courses for licensing or CEUs.  Please check with your licensing agency prior to taking this course for licensing.

Cancellation Policy:

Online Courses

If the student has completed less than ¼ of the course and a request is made to cancel, a refund is available less a 25% administrative fee. Students may choose to transfer their funds to another ESA/NTS provided course if less than ¼ the course has been completed. Transfers will not be issued until the class materials, including the course manual, is returned in like new condition to ESA/NTS. Fund transfers cannot be made to non-ESA/NTS courses due to the varied payment terms established by the Training Providers. Cancellation requests made beyond one-quarter through the course will not be refunded or transferred. Refunds should be expected within thirty days of receipt of returned materials.
