Philadelphia PA Senior Manager Licensing and Field Compliance- Responsible for holding state and local licenses on behalf of Comcast for residential and small business security products for the Northeast region. Manage licensing, registration and background checks for all employees assigned to security division. Ensure that Comcast security installation practices conform to best in class industry standards. Serve as subject matter expert on residential and small business security installation practices. Conduct audits of branch offices and jobsite locations to ensure proper adherence to compliance, code (where applicable) and company standards. Manage processes for meeting compliance in all markets assigned. Manage Electrical apprentice program for technicians performing alarm work in District of Columbia and New Jersey.
NEW/Asurion (July 2009- March 2012) Sterling VA
National Delivery and Installation Manager- Supervise the day-to-day operations and fulfillment of a nationwide, In-Home Installation, Assembly and Delivery network. Manage a network of national, regional and individual 3rd party sub-contractors. Supported programs include Consumer electronics, Security, Appliances, Lawn and Garden and Sports/Exercise equipment for Comcast, Walmart, Sam’s club and Verizon Wireless. Manage contract and pricing negotiations with third party service providers. Help develop program specific SOW’s, SOP’s and pricing models. Direct supervision of Field Supervisors, System Designers, Programmers and Install teams including training, work allocation and problem resolution. Responsible for install dept. P&L for the region. Managed customer service and installation standards compliance for the install dept. Worked with regional sales, store personnel, call center and operations to support and drive the installation programs, productivity and profit. Obtained all necessary Low Voltage licenses for the region. Facilitated state apprentice programs in CT and RI. Developed and delivered technical and sales training to the region in classroom as well as in the field.
HARVEY ELECTRONICS (Oct 1999 – Dec 2005) Lyndhurst, New Jersey
Assistant Director of Install - Supervised the installation dept's of 8 Harvey Electronics and 2 Bang & Olufson stores in the tri-state area. (NY, NJ, CT) Direct supervision of Project Managers and Installers including recruiting, training, work allocation, scheduling, and problem resolution. Developed policy and procedures for the installation departments. Created new processes for scheduling and sharing field resources between stores to increase productivity and decrease wait time for new projects. Increased the sales of integrated systems by partnering with store management and sales staff in each location. Consulted with sales and installation staff on all large scale projects. Facilitated state apprentice program in CT.
FICOM CORPORATION (Dec 1998-Oct 1999) Montville, New Jersey
Project Manager - Supervised installations of large scale commercial projects including hospitals, hotels, manufacturing plants and school systems. Responsible for final setup and programming of systems including commercial fire alarm, voice evacuation systems, access control, CCTV, Nurse Call, and Paging systems. Provided technical support and direction to Low Voltage Installers, Union Electricians, Architects and Engineers assigned to projects.
COMMUNITY LOCK & ALARM (1983 - 1998) Ridgewood, New Jersey
Managing Partner - Responsible for day to day operations of Regional Security Installation Company. Direct management of alarm installers, locksmiths, safe/vault technicians, sales and office support staff. Increased volume of installations by using 3rd party subcontractors for security installations. Increased monthly recurring revenue by the additional sales of service and maintenance contracts. Sold company to AFA Protective.

Why have you invested your time in being a NTS Instructor?
When I first started in the business I learned everything on the job. Back in 1982 becoming an installation technician was part electronics, part carpenter, part low voltage electrician. It took a long time to master the craft and it was a lot of hands on learning and repetition. But as far as training on safety for things like proper ladder use or using a mask in an attic I had 0 training. Looking back I wish I had attended some sort of standard training like level one.
What does it mean to you to teach others your craft?
I feel that giving back to an industry that has been good to me and my family. I like to share experiences and help to guide the next generation of technicians. Providing quality training that gives the industry a standard base of knowledge is key to the future success of quality systems being installed.
