Taking your Exam with ProctorU
This page will provide you with information and resources on taking your Proctored Exam with ProctorU:
IMPORTANT: READ FIRST
- Test-takers must have a WEB-CAM and a MICROPHONE. (If you do not have these items contact nts@esaweb.org for options.)
- Test-takers must download and use the Guardian Browser extension. Download it in advance to save time by clicking here.
- When creating your account, you must select Electronic Security Association for your Institution Name.

Pre-Exam Day Notes
Below are some notes concerning your exam session:
- Schedule as soon as possible.

Exam Day Notes
The exam will be available at the time you have scheduled with ProctorU. Make sure to keep the following in mind when taking the exam:
- For most exams, you will be allowed to use your PDF or Physical Manual. The only closed book exams are below:
- Texas Residential Fire Alarm
- Certified Fire Alarm Designer
- A timer will appear at the top of the screen showing you how much remaining time you have on the exam.
- Answer every question with the best answer from the choices provided.
- Once you submit the final test question the system will grade your test and provide you your results.
- Do not make notes about the test or mark pages in your student manual.
- Do not talk during the test.
- Please turn off cell phones during the test.
- Test questions are confidential and the property of the ESA. Do not discuss test questions with anyone.
- Instructors/exam proctors are not permitted to discuss the content of the exam with examines.
- Do not share reference books, notes, etc. with other test takers.
- Any navigating off of the test screen will be considered a violation of the cheating policy and the proctor will immediately end your exam and you may receive an F.
After Completing Your Exam
This exam may be taken only once. If you do not pass you will need to complete the Re-Exam Request form by clicking here. Once the form and payment are received you will be registered in the re-exam class and be allowed to follow the ProctorU process to set up a time for your re-exam.
