Certified Alarm Technician Level 1 – Online
“One of our Guiding Principles at ADT Commercial is: ‘Our People are the Difference,’” recites Zackery Morris, director of career programs, ADT Commercial, and continuing on, “—the quality of their knowledge and service is what sets us apart across the industry. With that in mind, we feel it is our job, as an organization, to empower our employees and equip them with the knowledge necessary to provide world-class service to our customers — each and every time they interact.”
To ensure employees’ knowledge and service surpasses customer expectations, ADT Commercial relies on ESA’s NTS CAT Level 1 Certification course as their go-to resource.
“By utilizing the CAT Level 1 certification, we are empowering our technicians to be ‘The Difference’ for our customers,” says Morris.
Because of their dedication to employees and customers, ADT Commercial did not take evaluating various certification programs lightly. In fact, they evaluated all the industry-recognized certification programs available, focusing on distinct criteria in their decision-making process. ESA’s CAT Level 1 program surpassed their expectations.
“One of the critical reasons why ESA’s CAT 1 program stood out to us was its prominent state and local licensing position,” Morris explains. “Not only did it provide ADT Commercial with logistical coverage, but it also speaks to the thorough nature of the content taught in the certification process.”
ADT Commercial aligned their certification strategy with ESA’s CAT Level 1 Certification program to ensure their technicians receive the knowledge needed to do their jobs successfully.
“We view ESA’s CAT Level 1 training program as a great way to invest in our employees and help to further their careers,” says Morris. “This enables our technicians to provide better service to our customers and allows us to build a culture around development and recognition to highlight service success.”
ESA’s CAT Level 1 program ensures technicians are educated on a broad spectrum of the alarm industry — all in one course with the final proctored exam included at a single, affordable price. Additionally, students receive an e-manual and presentations including text, graphics, videos and activities; checkpoint quizzes at the end of each module; and all students must pass a comprehensive assessment test with 80% or greater to complete the course.
“By engaging in one course, our technicians can achieve high levels of mastery in topics ranging from the basics of electrical theory, fire alarms and even false alarm prevention,” names Morris.
With a solid, robust training program in place at the foundation of each ADT Commercial technician, the company demonstrates their passion for investing in the development and advancement of their employees. Employees are empowered with opportunities to succeed in a life-long career path, not just a job, within the security industry.
“A vital aspect of that growth and development is making sure all employees have a strong foundational knowledge of the industry to define their performance in the field,” Morris says. “By providing our technicians, particularly technicians just beginning their careers, with the CAT Level 1 certification, we ensure they have a robust, well-established, technical understanding that they can build upon throughout their career here at ADT Commercial.”
As an employee, sitting through a training class or certification program, the content presented can be irrelevant and boring, which can create a bad feeling about the company and its culture from the start. However, ADT Commercial regularly receives fantastic feedback from the field about ESA’s CAT Level 1 certification program.
“One of the most frequent comments we hear is an immense appreciation for the flexibility and autonomy we offer our technicians in determining the format and approach that works best for them to complete the course work,” Morris explains. “Having the ability to support a learner who performs best with classroom-led instruction, or another who may prefer a self-paced model, allows us to cater to each technician’s needs and learning styles with precision.”
With ESA’s CAT Level 1, at the core of their training program, ADT Commercial technicians “will have the foundation and exposure to follow their passion within the industry,” concludes Morris.
