COURSE DESCRIPTION
ESA‘s Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level 2 certification bundle provides you access to all of the online courses included in this certification path in one bundled package. Access to the courses is sequential. Once the first class is completed you will automatically be registered and given access to the next course in the bundle.
Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) level 2 is an equivalent alternative to NICET level 2, providing a different route to certification — all for one cost-effective, bundled price that includes e-manuals for the three included courses — a total of 43 hours of training. ESA’s CFAT certification is approved as an alternate to NICET by the following AHJs:
- Alabama– ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Commercial Fire Alarm Technician
- Alaska – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for IA and IB permits
- Georgia, Cobb County – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for at least one supervisor per job site
- Hawaii – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Fire Alarm Systems Level II Certificate of Fitness (COF)
- Illinois – ESA Certified Alarm Technician (CAT II) is approved as credit for one year of the required experience for applicants wishing to obtain their Private Alarm Contractor license
- Iowa – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Fire Alarm System Installer
- Kansas – City of Wichita/Sedgwick County – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Level II Fire Alarm technician
- Louisiana– ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Non-Required Fire Alarm-Qualifier
- Michigan – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved to be eligible to sit for the Fire Alarm Specialty Technician (FAST) exam
- Montana – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Individual Endorsement to sell, install and service fire alarm systems
- Texas – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for Fire Alarm Technician (FAL), and a combination of ESA’s Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II and the ESA Certified Residential Fire Alarm Inspector are approved for Residential Fire Alarm Superintendent (RAS) licenses
- Washington – ESA Certified Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT) Level II is approved for fire alarm installers

What to expect in a certification bundle: The presentations includes text, audio, graphics, videos and activities to help you absorb the information presented. At the conclusion of each online course the student will be registered to take the course’s proctored exam with one of our testing providers. Tests are open book, allowing the usage of the course manual. Web-based testing is available and you will need a web camera and microphone. If you do not have the equipment for web based testing you will need to visit an in-person testing facility.
